The LHPD is currently accepting applications for the position of a non-paid Police Officer (Reserve Officer).  Only a fully completed LHPD application will be accepted.  You may attach your resume to the fully completed application.  Resumes alone will be rejected.  To obtain an application you can print one using the link below, mail a self addressed stamped envelope to the LHPD, or retrieve one in person at the LHPD office.  Applications for paid Police Officer positions are not being accepted at this time.

Non-paid Police Officer:
No benefits.  Non-paid officers are subject to termination at any time for any or no reason.

Do not apply if you do not meet all of the below listed requirements:

Must live within 50 miles of the City of Liberty Hill, or be willing to relocate within that distance.
Must have a current TCLEOSE Peace Officer certification.
Must provide proof of a honorable discharge for prior military experience.
Must be of good moral character.
Must be capable of performing all job functions.
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving history.
Must be capable of qualifying with a handgun and patrol rifle.
Must provide own duty handgun (Department approved).
Must provide own duty gear.
Must be capable of using a computer, including word processing and database data entry.
Must be willing to work any shift, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be capable of working a 10 hour shift at least once each week.
Must be capable of working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Must be willing to work as court bailiff.
Must be capable of interacting with the public in a positive and professional manner.
Must be capable and willing to work in close proximity of the Department's canines.
Must be willing and able to pass a rigorous hiring process, which includes a personal interview and a background investigation.

Upon being accepted you must provide  both a current TCOLE L2 and L3 declaration at your expense along with a copy of your high school diploma or your GED certificate.  Must provide own non-expired body armor or be willing to contract with the City to provide body armor to you, with the condition that if you leave within a year of receiving it you will purchase it from the City at the original purchase price.

Essential Duties:

Protects the City's residents and visitors from injury or loss of property.
Enforces the laws and ordinances of the State of Texas and the City.
Performs crime preventive patrols on foot or in a vehicle.
Directs and escorts traffic, operate radar, issues citations, and investigate traffic crashes.
Pursue, apprehend, arrest, transport, and process adult and juvenile criminal suspects.
Responds to emergency and routine calls for service.
Performs and assist others with criminal investigations.
Maintain records of activities and generate reports concerning crimes, complaints, and other incidents.
Appear in courts of various levels to testify.
Attend civic and other public functions in a public relations role.
When not on duty, may be on scheduled on-call status to respond to major incidents.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.
